Directions

From Athens: Take Hwy. 29 North past Athens Technical College. About 3 miles from Athens Tech you will cross into Madison County. There is an Ingles shopping center on the right. The Ingles is your cue that you have crossed the county line and are at Milepost 0. Continue North on Hwy. 29 and begin counting the mileposts. The last milepost you will pass is Milepost 8. After Milepost 8 take the next left (this left appears after you top a hill in a curve so be ready!) onto Booger Hill Rd. in front of a white church (Family Worship Ctr.). Go 2.3 miles down Booger Hill Rd. Lowery Photography & Gallery is on the right. The number is 2400. The gallery sits on top of the hill and has a green roof and a big front porch.

About Lowery Gallery

Founded by photographer Robert Lowery in 1993, the Lowery Gallery initially hosted exhibits by artists local to the Athens area in need of gallery space where the artist could be free to execute his or her vision. Since that time the gallery has hosted over 150 separate exhibits featuring hundreds of local, regional and national artists.
Now, in addition to revolving shows by contemporary artists, the gallery features a growing and diverse permanent collection of works on display from contemporary regional artists, folk art, art brut, especially Annie and Carter Wellborn, to Japanese and American woodblock prints. Outside the gallery one will discover an eclectic and constantly changing display of outdoor sculptures, all part of Art Farm Sculpture Park.
Now in it’s 14th year of operation Lowery Gallery continues it’s mission to bring artists and viewers together in an environment of freedom and non-exclusion.
Come visit...as always...
